Why Calyx
Ingredient level food system intelligence, built as infrastructure.
Global food companies need ingredient and supplier level information that is comparable across thousands of businesses and tens of thousands of SKUs. Spreadsheets, one-off audits and consultancy projects cannot serve that at scale, and they were never designed to.
Calyx builds that layer and monetises it three ways: Foodvu as enterprise software, Foodvu Intelligence as an API and analysis engine, and services that deliver coverage, verification and interpretation.
The product
Foodvu structures supplier, product, packaging, facility and transport data once, then shares it across procurement, reporting and risk workflows. Enterprises stop asking the same questions in different formats. Suppliers answer once and reuse everywhere.
Foodvu Intelligence returns ingredient level impact analysis in seconds across carbon, water, biodiversity and cost, for any product, recipe or menu, with no supplier onboarding required. Enterprises and partners access it via API and inside the Foodvu platform, so the analysis sits wherever decisions are made.
Together they turn work that used to take weeks of project time into a live capability teams can call on daily.
The moat: data network effects
- 01
Enterprises bring the demand.
Each food company we onboard needs visibility across thousands of suppliers. Their purchasing decisions create the pull that brings supplier data onto the network.
- 02
Suppliers bring the data once.
A supplier answers one standardised request and reuses that data across every customer on the network. The incentive to participate grows with every enterprise that joins.
- 03
Coverage becomes the product.
As more suppliers join, the value of trusted intelligence rises for every existing participant. Duplicate reporting falls, data quality improves, and switching to a competitor becomes harder.
The outcome
Better information creates better markets. When buyers can see impact and operational performance at ingredient and supplier level, they can factor it in alongside price, quality and availability.
That makes performance commercially legible. Producers who invest in it can be recognised for it, because the evidence finally travels with the product.
Our aim is to make ingredient level impact and supplier performance a standard input to commercial decisions in the food industry.
